3 Tips To Boost Your Business In 2020

As we enter into the new decade, you are probably spending some time strategizing for your business. This is the time to set new goals, to create new targets and to get busy with those action plans. We all want to have a good year and for those of us running our own businesses, we always have an eye on developing our work further. That is why today we want to share with you 3 tips to boost your business in 2020.

Invest in your people

You can never go wrong by choosing to invest in your people, the right people.

Whether you are currently flying solo and want to make this the year that you expand and build a team for your business or you have a well-established team working for you already, investing your time and money in them makes sound business sense.

Your team is crucial to the day to day running of your business. They are often the people that your clients interact with and they are often responsible for keeping all of the wheels turning. As they are so instrumental, they warrant your time and appreciation.

You will want to ensure that you are hiring the right people in the first place, so take your time over this process. Everyone needs full training to equip them with the skills and knowledge to carry out their jobs effectively. You will then want to put in place ongoing training, coaching and support to ensure that you are getting the most from your team and they feel that they are developing and progressing.

You will need to take the time to demonstrate to your team that they are valued. Lead them, inspire them, praise them and thank them, as all will contribute to a motivated and happy workforce. 

Get extra support

We so often feel that we need to know it all when we run our own business. We try to take everything on and we like to know the ins and outs of every single aspect of what we do. The problem with this is that we do not have the expertise to fulfil every role well and we do not have the spare time to work out how to do everything. Fortunately, there is a solution, and that is to get extra support.

More and more businesses are making the most of outsourcing, so make this the year that you get extra support and outsource whenever you need to. You might choose to get data services from an outside company, you might hire a web designer for a short term project or perhaps you will use a virtual assistant. 

Getting help from experts like this frees up your time and you are going to get the job completed to a higher standard. These companies and individuals know how to do their jobs well, so set them up with your objectives and expectations and allow them to help you. 

Create a new marketing strategy

With your business running smoothly, with a well-trained and motivated team and technical work outsourced, you can now focus your efforts on attracting new custom by creating a new marketing strategy. 

The best place to begin with this is thinking about those people that you are looking to attract. Who are they? What do they want? Where do they shop? Why would your services appeal to them? Spend some time building up a profile of the ideal customer before you jump straight into how to attract them. You need to understand them in order to be able to pitch successfully to them. 

There are so many ways for you to market your business, so think about where your likely customers will be able to find out about you. It might be that they are active on social media, in which case your strategy this year could be to grow your social media channels or change how you promote yourself there. They might be in the immediate vicinity, in which case, could your signage benefit from being updated? 

You might want to look into mobile app development if you feel that this would show off your services and attract new customers or enhance your services for your existing customers. Which does bring us to our final point around marketing. It can be easy to get caught up in it all being about new customers, but marketing effectively to your existing customers is also crucial. This will help to build loyalty, trust and your business’ reputation, all invaluable in the marketplace.
