WASHINGTON/JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump accused OPEC on Friday of “artificially” boosting oil prices after a year-plus pact that has slashed global crude inventories, drawing rebukes from oil-producing countries as prices dipped following his remarks.

Saudi Arabian officials said they remained far from their goal in reducing a three-year global supply glut. Three officials from the country, the world’s leading oil exporter, told Reuters this week they would be happy to see oil hit $80 or $100 a barrel.

“Looks like OPEC is at it again. With record amounts of Oil all over the place, including the fully loaded ships at sea. Oil prices are artificially Very High! No good and will not be accepted!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The Washingtoin Post reports that The Democratic National Committee filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization alleging a far-reaching conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 campaign and tilt the election to Donald Trump.

The lawsuit alleges that in addition to the Russian Federation, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Wikileaks and Guccifer 2.0, top Trump campaign officials, including Donald Trump Jr, Roger Stone, Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and pretty much everyone else who has been mentioned in the same paragraph as Trump....

Comments by Bank Of England Carney Adjust Market Thinking About May 10 Rate Hike Bank of England Governor Mark Carney roiled financial markets late Thursday with a speech at the IMF in Washington. His comments cast doubt on a rate hike at the May 10 Bank of England meeting. While Carney said the markets should prepare for a few interest rate hikes over next few years, he warned not to get overly focused on exact timing of a rate hike...

JP, we cannot hope to compete with the news algos so we have to employ strategies that gets us on the side least vulnerable to a headline. When on the string side a surprise news headline will have a limited impact while when on the vulnerable side, such as with Carney's surprise yesterday, the reaction is stronger and may not revert.

As i have said, this is where the Amazing Trader and its directional indicator pattern comes in. It gets you looking on the strong side of the market at any point in time and makes you less vulnerable to a surprise.

Jay do u have a rtrs / bbrg machine news feed? Your A/T offers bias signals on MT4 and only on minimum 1 min chart ie no tick. Is the AT bias signal generator direct-connected to a news feed ? Flash : the one minute chart shows (in the Data Window) 1010 volume. Is the AT nifty-code programmed to determine from incoming news when the reaction makes no sense OR that there are no market makers ? IF yes ... I render you ultimate bow in total & infinite respect for achieving something I would not think possible to code ! Ok .... maybe it is maybe not - it is a proprietary algo so I retract my question.

I maintain my view on the trade-able utility of random news feed. Even for the pre-announced calendar events whose release time is known in advance.

One exception: plz tell me if n when Kim has pressed his button and there is 1/2 a dozen puppies flying with destination 38.9072° N, 77.0369° W co-ordinates (so I can kiss my donkey goodbye) Tia.

JP, anyone who is trading knows news matters. Key is to determine when the reaction makes no sense but to ignore news is trading at your own peril.

But what you saw with the flash crash is an example of what happens when there are no market makers (in this case spot traders)

Jay your 14:59 just illustrates how useless news is to trader types like me and possibly you in age of optical cable networked computer trading vs Manuel Flintstone.

There is NO WAY to keep speed with let alone beat news.
I maintain that a nimble computer AND nifty code optimized speed robot are essential to trading. Did you know - for example - that there is a speed difference in (MT4) execution when indicating sl/tp in terms of pips rather than specific price level ?

For those who have followed my trading tips, one of them is to take profits earlier rather than later when contra trading. This was the case earlier when the directional risk in the EURUSD had turned up (19 pip move) as the overall pattern stayed bearish.

As noted earlier, 1.2260 is the key support level, at risk below 1.23 but may be tough.

Feet of Clay
Livingston nh 13:22 GMT 04/20/2018
Markets have given EUR a pass as CBs have been judged to wobble at the first sign of "trouble" - part of this is the misjudgment (misunderstanding?) of inflation (and silly target concept) and part is the failure of CBs to begin divestiture of QE holdings BEFORE rate hikes

ECB is still adding and a year away from rate hikes while others have stumbled forward -- Fed and Powell will be tested but w/ short term rates moving well ahead of the expected quarterly hikes Fed should consider eliminating the interest on excess reserves and expanding press conferences

Some of the move in oil has been "weak dollar" despite rates -- that may need to be rethought

ib- correct. U.S. yields suddenly are on the rise AGAIN. This time do they hold? I think it depends on equities. Fed seen as a sure shot to hike in June, but as we learned yesterday (BOE), sure shots are not what they used to be! You have to be agile these days.
